SSD Booting problem

So i downloaded the windows 10 iso on my ssd. I turned off my comp, unplugged the hdd and inserted the ssd. Installed windows, and turned the comp off. I plugged the hdd back in and started it up. I went to boot menu and moved some priotity around. Idk if i moved them wrong but i put the kingston on top for priority. Btw, I didnt format the hdd yet. I read that it wasnt a problem because people said that the os wont interfere with eachother. People said that the os on the hdd would act as blank space sitting there. So what am i doing wrong. I want the ssd as boot priority. Thats where im standing.

Put in the SSD as boot drive in the bios, cd/dvd drive or USB as second, no other devices in that list. 

 

Then your machine should boot from the SSD.

 

Your HDD is still in the same state as before, meaning if you plug it in as only drive again, you'll boot up your old system.

Sure. Don't see a reason why you can't.

 

I myself currently got 2 ssd and 2 hdd in my rig. One SSD is the OS drive, the other the games drive, the HDDs are just for plain storage.

the HDD partitions will get drive letters, when connected to the system and the SSD booted windows. In your explorer you should see the old disk. You could erase all the drives partition, if you don't need the data from it, and create new fresh ones. 

 

If you don't need anything from the old OS drive (old C:) you can just reformat that one or delete the partition in the disk management console.

Awesome but i moved the things around and i still have the error. It says " reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device and press a key" this is weird because i didnt do much chaning aound. Want me to show you my bios boot priority?

Fastboot disabled is good =) else getting into the bios may get a p.i.t.a.

 

I would pick the Windows Boot Manager, if that kingston is your SSD.

Nowhere in the boot priority. Just hook it up and boot from the SSD.

Aight so should i put my kingston windows boot manager first then the hdd boot manager. Then 3rd id put kingston then last the hdd? Like this

Unless you want to boot that old system at any time again, yes just remove that.

How about the hard drive bbs priorities? Do i remove the hdd from that?

Only put in devices you want to boot from in there.

 

I personally put in USB first, then the OS Drive as second (in your case the Windows Boot Manager on the Kingston Drive).

 

With that I can always plugin in a USB installation drive to do a fresh setup without needing to screw around any boot settings or early boot menues.

Then just put in the windows boot manager of your SSD. That's enough.

 

Locating the old Harddisk will be done by windows when booted up.
