Looking into a audio production build and I'm trying to save as much money as possible. If possible, I would like it to be around the 600-800 dollar range and I don't know if it should be intel or Ryzen. From what I know is most software is optimized for intel but I still like the affordability of Ryzen. Would love to get some input. Thanks guys!

Wow, you could spend that much on a decent production quality sound card alone.  I'd find a cheap used system somewhere with a free PCI-E slot and get an ASUS Sound Card Essence STX II to throw in there.  You really don't need that much processing power for audio editing.

Please excuse my lack of knowledge with this next question but why a sound card? Isn't it just for playback? If I'm running monitors out of an interface what would be the need for such an expensive card? I have a focusrite interface, I can use on board audio for midis and what not can't I? And if I do get a sound card how do I run monitors from that? And also from an interface? Would I have to disconnect everytime? Sorry for all the questions.
