what games need server

on games that allow you to host servers what are some games that are still active but could use some more well made well organized servers?

 

 

I used to run a very successful gmod DarkRP and Jailbreak server making me about $500 on average a month after costs, it was going good for 2 years and becase of life I had to stop managing it and then it went down hill from the new owners so I just retired it before it was ruined.

 

I've tried rust but there is so many and the official servers are great themself that It didnt get off the ground. Gmod im just sure if ill go back just becase almost of the players we had moved on since then and there are now very established servers, most new ones just get troll minges and go no where now. 

 

am I just too late on the server game now? should I wait for a new game to release that lets you host and take advantage of the timing?

Most unofficial game servers earn through donations. Don't worry about what other servers are out there, if it's a good server then people will use it.  Money from game servers is not reliable.  

 

If you make a server, make and maintain it well. On a VPS or a dedicated server and optimise it.  The biggest annoyance I run into are people who think because they can setup and configure a gmod server it means they are pros.   

 

Rust and Gmod are totally different, different engines and different languages.  If you are good at Gmod and have the ability to write scripts and mods for it so you can have an advantage.  Then I think you will do well. 

 

If you expect to make a server and use pre existing mods, no staff, no events, no custom mods then you will probably fail.
