So here I am attempting to erase that windows scum off my hdd :) , I hate dual booting , and the only thing stopping me is the incredibly low fps I get in games :/ . I'm running the latest catalyst driver coupled with the latest ubuntu and wine versions, my card is a 7970. I normally get 200 fps in oblivion in windows and in ubuntu I'm struggling to get past 30

try other emulation programs?

this is to be expected, everything has to be translated by wine. that's why you only get 30 fps.

if posisble, run the game natively on ubuntu. if you can't then I'm afraid you need the filth to run your games..

That's just wine for you.

AMD cards also don't get the greatest performance right now with linux, but they have been making leaps and bounds since the announcement of SteamOS, So give it a little time and the GPU performance will get better.

this isn't about GPU performance, this is about wine bing too much of an overhead.

Technically it's about the translation from game to directx to wine :/ atm I'm just playing some native Linux games. Might try cedega to see if it works well :)
