I seem to have a well big problem; I am using the system in my signature and I was travelling today with my PC and after unpacking I hooked everything and when I the PC started the fans started spinning like crazy and I started to panic the CPU temps were 85+ I immediately shut it down and left it for an hour then when I powered it back on , the motherboard showed me a CPU temperature  error so I went into the BIOS same thing so I decided remove my cooler and remove the CPU and put it all back, but I don't have any paste and I was using the one pre-applied on the Kraken ;however, I did it anyway. After starting the PC again initially I did not see the CPU temperature  error or hear the fans ; however when monitoring the temps in the ASUS Suite the CPU  was hovering between 50C-70C for like 15 minutes and now it is down to 35C which is pretty similar to what I had before travelling. Although the fans keep ramping up every minute for a couple of seconds and then stopping and I don't get why they spikes

What I need is advice should I get me some thermal paste (all I can get for the next couple of month is some weird brand called Manhattan thermal compound idk how good it is) and reapply ? OR  just stick with what I did and hope nothing goes wrong ?
I really want to OC my 7700k to at least 4.5GHz but am afraid to do anything because of what happened.
Please Help.

Pre-applied thermal paste stays in the warehouse for a few months and in those months the thermal paste becomes hard so you should never use pre-applied thermal paste in the first place

secondly you should reuse thermal paste because your temps will rise dramatically

thirdly you were getting high temps becuase there may be a air gap between the cpu and cooler

i reccomend getting nocua nt h1
