MS Word lag

I was working on a report when I noticed when I resized graphs (JPEG images) or moved text boxes around there would be severe lag ranging from several miliseconds to several whole seconds. Typing is up to speed and has no lag but whenever i try to adjust any images or additional graphic elements on the document, lag kicks in.

 

So far my document is 1400 words and is spread over 23 pages.

 

I am running a 64 Bit MS word 2016 Version 1706 Build 8229.2103

This is the sort of thing I find the office - IT staff ticket desk is humorous to wind up with... (when I am not on the desk)  - Can I use this the next Time I have to log a ticket!
