Hi Guys

I recently discovered that software can link to a power supply for security purposes.
I use a program called Alphacam at work and this software costs $10 000

I upgraded my power supply today and then i discovered the license for alphacam stopped working
i contacted the support to tell them alphacam stopped working and they asked me if i changed anything on my computer so i replied "Nothing at all, but my power supply"

Then they said that is the reason...

It was a cheap power supply 450w so it had no digital connection to the PC at all, only supplied it with power.
But i never knew this was even possible that a power supply could be linked through any registry in a computer ?

So my question is,  How is this even possible to detect a power supply though software with no digital connection to the power supply?
Interesting topic :)

Then how else would it have happened that the software license recognized my computer as a different computer by just changing the PSU?
How is it not possible if it just happened ?
And there is no corsair link at all, it seems extremely impossible but it just happened...

Did you have any cable on your previous PSU which did not look like a standard PSU connector? (not any of these: SATA, MOLEX, 24pin, 8pin, 6pin, 4 pin)

In the hope to be useful ;)

Corsair ax psus have an internal Usb connection to mobo, which is monitored by software-corsair link.
