Hello, everyone.

I have an old Davio system which now has a broken HDD. I'm gonna fix it this winter. But then i'd also like to replace some parts here and there.

My specs are :

- Intel C2D E6750 @ stock 2.66

- nVidia 8600GT 512MB DDR3

- a broken 320GB WD HDD

- 2GB RAM DDR2

I want to replace the E6750 with an E8500, the 8600GT with a GT630 or HD4850 and upgrade to 4GB of RAM. Is it worth doing this, or i'd better buy a new machine?

P.S. : Standalone PCs here in Romania are sold at overrated prices for some crap hardware.

If PCs are overpriced, upgrade it. But you won't be able to run modern games that well since it's still a C2D. I'd get a Q9650 and a HD 7790. And some RAM. I'd personally replace the CPU and Motherboard for a X4 750K, HD 7790, an 8 GB of RAM.

well, i'm not very much into gaming. I'd just like to have better hardware than i currently have for some occassional gaming, but nothing very special. Also, i can't seem to find any Qxxxx except the Q6600 which doesn't even match the E8500 in performance and for my current budget i can't go for a new motherboard and AND a new CPU AND a different RAM memory type. I would be able to sell the old ones as counterparts, but i just won't have enough money for the new components :(

then dont upgrade. and how do u know what u can afford if u dont give a budget? for what u will use it for u can build a $400 pc

well, it's not really a budget. I'm gonna upgrade it gradually. One by one. When i have the money, i throw out a new component

well for PC upgrades thats  the worse thing to do xD saving a bunch of money and spending it all at one time has always been the best.

Tom's hardware has some decent priced builds for on the cheep. But don't buy in stages, unless you do a platform upgrade. Say going from a socket 775 to an 1150 get an i3 for now and some inexpensive memory. Probably 400 if you look on the inexpensive side and reuse some of your parts. Like case and power supply.

Then later move up the cpu and memory. You are buying more parts but you get into a modern architecture which is way better then the core2duo. I just went from a Q6600 to i5-4670K huge jump in performance.
