I am building a PC soon, and I want to know if I should get the 8350, or get the 8320. Its always good to save quality, especially if there is a really small margin between the two. But if there is a large difference between the two, for the $70 difference.

Here Is my build incase anybody needs it.

I would also like to mention my PC is going to mostly be used for 3d rendering, editing, and on the side casual to heavy gaming.

Grab an 8320 and a Hyper 212 Evo. the 8320/8350 shouldn't be left with the stock. the stock cooler does the job but you'er supposed to oc.

The 8350 is really only worth it if you're pushing high oc's because the 8320 can oc past a stock 8350 but not as well as one.

The build could be better.

What's it being used for?

They're the same CPU, except the 8320 is slightly slower in stock clock speeds. Not worth the $70 difference. You can easily overclock the 8320 to 8350 speeds or higher.

The 8350 is just a higher clocked 8320. Like WoodenMarker said, you would be better off getting an aftermarket cooler and overclocking it.

Since you're using pcpartpicker.com, I assume you're in the US. Do you think you could pick up some cheaper parts from Microcenter?

Also, you likely won't need 16GB of RAM, and you can get an 840 EVO for the same price. Also, get a better power supply if you can, and the 7950 would be a better bang for the buck graphics card.

id say the money isnt worth it unless u need every mhz possible. (breaking world records)

If you were trying to break records, wouldn't you go with the 9590 considering it is supposed to be able to hit 5GHz out of the box.

Programs being used? What type of work are you doing?

Would I get much better performance for the same price or less?

I am gonna be doing work on 3ds max and either sony vegas, or premiere pro cs6

What type of work specifically? Scale of scenes and such?

If you do extensive video editing and 3d rendering, then keep the 16GB of RAM. Otherwise, 8GB should prove to be sufficient.

I can't say because i'm working with a partner on this, and he hasn't told me yet, but shouldn't be too big

Alright.

Will it cost much more? because I wanna keep the build under $1100

My recommendations: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/2a7uO

Cutting the RAM down to 8GB will cut the costs by about $50.

Or not. it helps for editing and working with content creation.

The graphics card seems more gaming oriented and less for 3d rendering/editing

As well as the motherboard doesn't have much usb ports and such

If you want a professional workstation card, go quadro or firepro and forget gaming. Otherwise, the 280x trumps the 760 is pretty much everything that regards opencl vs cuda and is a beast for video encoding.

8 rear and 2 front usb ports aren't enough?

AMD cards are great for GPU hardware acceleration, especially in programs that support OpenCL, such Sony Vegas.

Also, isn't the MSI 760 pretty good for 3d rendering?

16 USB ports in total without hubs.

The 760 shouldn't' take part in rendering unless you're using vray--which is really onyl good for simulations and test renders. the cpu should be doing the rendering.

As for the viewport, the vram and memory bus of the 7970 will make it much better than the 760.

I didn't mean the potential. the build itself already has 10 ports as is.
