I don't remember when but a long time ago I got the HyperX Cloud Core headset. Anyways when I got it I realized that no one could hear me when using the mic or I was extremely quiet. When looking at the recording tab of the sound devices it shows my mic but the bar just doesn't go up:

So then I decided to check "listen to device" and I could slightly hear myself but it was way too quiet you can't understand what I was saying. I ended up putting my mic boost up to 30 (max) and that solved the problem. You can hear me, but now there's a lot of static and background noise. My brothers voice from across the room was much louder than mine and everyone I talked to complained about how loud he is(he's generally just loud but the mic boost makes it worse).

My mic ended up eventually breaking completely a couple days ago so I ordered the same headset(I enjoy the sound and feel of it) and I have the same mic problems. I need to use the boost but it causes lots of static and background noise.

Does anyone know how I can fix this problem?

(Not sure if this is in the right section or whatever, new to this site)

I'm pretty sure mic shouldn't show up as a "microphone" in the sound panel. It should show up as the headset. I have the Cloud IIs. While not exactly the Core, this headset is essentially the same.

Anyways, I'm not sure what you did to cause the mic to show up the way it does; but maybe try reverting that somehow.

Is yours as usb headset? Mine isn't which could be causing it.

Yeah. Looks like the Cloud Core doesn't have a USB dongle. Try hooking up the headset to your phone and test with a skype call or something. If the problems are still present, that might suggest something wrong with the physical microphone

I have one of these headsets from like a year go or whatever and I have a new one I just got yesterday. It couldn't be the headset? Maybe it's my soundcard.

That does make it unlikely that the headset is the problem, but test it anyway just to make sure. Shouldn't be hard to test
