So I watched this video from gamers Nexus about undervolting gpus to improve performance and I want to know if I could do it too. If I understand correctly, GPUs out of the box are not tuned perfectly to the correct voltage because all silicon is different and picking an average voltage ensures maximum compatibility. Some cards like the Vega Frontier edition benefitted from undervolting and I am wondering if even my little 1050ti could run alittle cooler and faster undervolted. I already feel like I won the silicon lottery since my card boosts natively with GPUboost up to nearly 2Ghz but runs pretty loud. what program would you guys recommend for undervolting, I am familiar with MSIAfterburner in Overclocking and Overvolting but have never tired going down, Thanks for reading!

I am/was in the same boat as you, knew quite a bit about overclocking/overvolting but never the other way around with the voltage. I saw that video and at some point Steve mentioned that Fury(s) were good at undervolting too. So I set my fury back to it's stock 1050mhz core clock, and just turned the voltage as LOW as it even lets me in Afterburner (-96mv) and I have kept it there since. It's 100% stable but I'm not going as far as to mod the BIOS to get it even lower or whatever. My load temps dropped 5*C from stock voltage at the same clocks, however my performance is 100% unchanged. Ran 3dmark firestrike at 1050mhz with both stock voltage and -96mv and the runs were within 0.1% of each other. I'm not sure that undervolting does ANYTHING for performance AT ALL, but it definitely lowered my temps a little and I'd go as far as to say the card will last longer with less voltage. Mind you my fury is a pretty solid overclocker compared to others, so maybe I just have a golden chip that can drop 96mv no sweat idk its all a lottery in the end

CPU: INTEL Core i7 4790k @ 4.7Ghz - Cooling: NZXT Kraken X61 - Mobo: Gigabyte Z97X SLI - RAM: 16GB G.Skill Ares 2400mhz - GPU: AMD Sapphire Nitro R9 Fury 4G - Case: Phanteks P350X - PSU: EVGA 750GQ - Storage: WD Black 1TB - Fans: 2x Noctua NF-P14s (Push) / 2x Corsair AF140 (Pull) / 3x Corsair AF120 (Exhaust) - Keyboard: Corsair K70 Cherry MX Red - Mouse: Razer Deathadder Chroma

Bit of an AMD fan I suppose. I don't bias my replies to anything however, I just prefer AMD and their products. Buy whatever the H*CK you want.

Lol, I know that feeling, we are on ass ends of the Graphics card spectrum and still it feels good to get that golden chip. Its either like the cherry on top with a high tier card or a diamond in the rough with my cheap $100 refurb card
