wildcard dns

I imagine a lot of you use freenom, so this question is probably already known: Is there a way to input a wildcard as dns record on freenom? (i.e. so that fdsa.mydomain.com will redirect to mydomain.com) I've seen a lot of how-to's, but none are for freenom. * is said to be an "invalid dns record".

I wouldn't do a wildcard dns record, they are considered a security risk. Why do you need it?

You gotta tell pcextreme, they have wildcards (*.mydomain.com) in their default templates...

Not really, I just like to try new things. Why is it a security risk, though?

It's more of a theoretical risk, like with wildcard certificates, but DNS records should only resolve to actual records unless you have a good reason to need a wildcard dns entry. It can also be annoying for users and IT admins if any random entry resolves making it harder to verify correct URLs/URIs.

It's for my own website, which I only use for myself, and with which I like to experiment. But after searching for a while I've given up on it. Thanks, though
