Help!! PC Wont turn on!!

I just upgraded my pc chassis to a thermaltake core x9, and my powersupply from a non-modular psu, to a EVGA G3 bronze. As of installing everything, i pressed the on button, and heard a small crack, when the power button flashes once, as does my led fan, and then nothing. I've disconnected all peripherals, and nothing is working.

 

I am using a mixture of cablemod cables and the EVGA cables that came in the box, as well as an intel i5 3.2 quad core processor, 1 8GB stick of ddr3 ram, and an asus H81M-Plus motherboard. 

 

If anyone can help, please do!

Check all the cables, may one of them is loosely in, so it looks like its in but it actually isnt. also you can hook up your old psu and then check if that works. Maybe the power supply is bad.

Ok, i will try that, is there any other causes that could cause it to not turn on, eg: could the case cause this?

Yup check all the connections like the other guy said, that should do it

Im only using the power cable, cpu cable, and sata cables from the psu, could me not using the vga cable cause this? (cause my graphics card doesn't need it).

 

Oh, and it also smells like a tiny bit of smoke when i try and turn it on, could that mean something?

is there a little red switch on the back of the power supply, and if there is, what does the number read that's showing?

there isnt a switch or post code display if that's what you're asking. and it smells more like smoke then the "new" burning off

It sounds like a capacitor blew.  I would try hooking up your old psu and seeing if it works.

Do your fans have an extra molex connector?  I had an issue where they were shorting pins on my motherboard.  Also did you still smell smoke when testing with the old psu?

no, the non cpu fans are all 3/4 pin fan connections, and no, i don't smell any smoke either
