Display Port cable issue?

Alright, so here's the situation : On sunday My AOC G2460PF started making popping noises (thought it has included speaker, so if the cable is fucked well of course the signals coming in are gonna be fucked), phasing what it was displaying, black bars started spawning and despawning and it went to black for about 5 seconds every 30 seconds or so. Basically, I thought it was dead. Now, before boxing it up to ship it back to AOC, I tried setting it up throught VGA on another PC I own, and guess what? After 30 minutes of use it's going strong. So I'm wondering, Display Port cables, can they cause so many issues at once if they fail?
