So, for a while now, every once in a while my P.C. will shut off for seemingly no reason, and when rebooting, says "A power surge was detected". This obviously worries me, but my question to you guys is could it be a PSU issue? I'm using a cheap Insignia that I bought at BestBuy a while back. Or should I just Plug my PC into a different outlet and see if that helps?

Try another outlet, then if that doesn't work, a surge protector on both outlets, and then finally, if none of that works, new PSU.

What are your specs and the PSU wattage?

It's most likely the psu.

Change that PSU. You shouldn't trust your computer to something cheap like that.

Main System: Phobos

AMD Ryzen 7 2700 (8C/16T), ASRock B450 Steel Legend, 16GB G.SKILL Aegis DDR4 3000MHz, AMD Radeon RX 570 4GB (XFX), 960GB Crucial M500, 2TB Seagate BarraCuda, Windows 10 Pro for Workstations/macOS Catalina

Secondary System: York

Intel Core i7-2600 (4C/8T), ASUS P8Z68-V/GEN3, 16GB GEIL Enhance Corsa DDR3 1600MHz, Zotac GeForce GTX 550 Ti 1GB, 240GB ADATA Ultimate SU650, Windows 10 Pro for Workstations

Older File Server: Yet to be named

Intel Pentium 4 HT (1C/2T), Intel D865GBF, 3GB DDR 400MHz, ATI Radeon HD 4650 1GB (HIS), 80GB WD Caviar, 320GB Hitachi Deskstar, Windows XP Pro SP3, Windows Server 2003 R2

FYI:  The "power surge" is not on the AC side like we typically think of "power surges".  The ASUS software is only looking at the DC on the motherboard.  And the ASUS software has no "hooks" into the PSU to really even know if the PSU has any DC "surges".  The measurement is taken at the VRM for the CPU.  That said, it's often a false error.

Double check all of your connectors to the motherboard and make sure they're secure.  If you do that and still get the error, then the problem is heavy loads are causing voltage drops which isn't uncommon for that level PSU.  I would then replace that PSU with a stronger unit.
