Yeah, if you're interested in the used market though a GTX 970 or 980 might be worth a look. They seem to be in your price range ish and are a lot better than a 1050 ti, though at the cost of being used.

So I have a friend who is building a cheap gaming computer and needs a graphics card.  But the only problem is the prices of graphics cards because of mining.  Does anyone have a clue when this mining will  finally start to die down.

Any opinions or advice is appreciated

No, no ones knows when for certain. You could have look at second hand market for 1050ti or 750ti are good cheap budget cards.

It might actually start dying down soon. I believe the profitability of ethereum recently dropped a lot which in turn caused its value to just about halve. Sooo you may be in luck.

What price range was your friend looking at?

Buy whatever product is best for you, not what product is "best" for the market.

Interested in computer architecture? Still in middle or high school? P.M. me!

I love computer hardware and feel free to ask me anything about that (or phones). I especially like SSDs. But please do not ask me anything about Networking, programming, command line stuff, or any relatively hard software stuff. I know next to nothing about that.

An rx 570 would be ideal but then again there's stupid miners so your best bet would be a 1050 ti. I think the craze should start dying down soon but it's probably not gonna be completely gone until August ish which is a long ways out. So 1050 ti is probably the best choice.

On a side note, did you buy everything already? Cause the psu isn't the best, so ideally you should get a different one since better ones are available for that price.

If that's the case ya might as well wait. By then I'd guess gpu prices will die down and a 570 would probably be doable.
