Should I get the AT2020 USB, USB+ or XLR? Which is better and why? If I was to get the xlr version what audio interface should I get? I will be using the mic for gaming and making YouTube videos. Also if I get the dt990s or fidelio x2s will the mic pick up the sound since there open back headphones?

Depends what you want to do. If you just want quite a nice microphone (albeit a very sensitive one) for voice chat or just recording a vocal, then the USB version will be fine. If you want to record anything other than or as well as a vocal then you might have use for an audio interface with more than a single channel and the non-USB version.

Doesn't the non USB version have better sound quality anyways? What about my other questions?

Not necessarily. If you paired the XLR version with a particularly bad pre-amp or ADC then obviously it won't sound good, It simply allows a broader range of usage. I don't think Audio Technica have used a bad mic-pre and ADC so there's nothing bad technically with the USB version.

Depends on what you're doing.

See above. do you want 2 inputs or 20?

Probably, at the very least at a low level. Because it uses a condenser capsule it is very sensitive so will pick up everything in the room you're in including you, your keyboard, mouse, TV, animals, people in the room, case fans, that tree hitting your window...

Take a look at the at2005, it is usb and xlr. Usb is likely more than enough to start out and if you feel the need to upgrade you can get an interface later. It is also a dynamic microphone so better for untreated audio environments and picks up less ambient and doesn't need phantom power. I use a cheap neewer mic stand and shock mount to use when I game so I can easily swap headphones or earbuds when gaming.

Are you using mic just for voiceover? If you need audio instead of built in camera mic you may look at a shotgun mic.
