So my mobo is dying and needs to be replaced. I've decided to upgrade instead of just replacing the one part. So I'm looking for recommendations as well as opinions for my new build.

Current and keeping:

Cooler Master Scout 2 mid-ATX case

ASUS 1060 Turbo

120GB Kingston SSD

2 1TB WD Drives

1 PCIe USB 3.0 expansion card

What I'll be using it for.

I game casually and would like to have no problems at 60 fps at 1080 gaming

I am an amateur video editor for recorded PC gaming content and would like to have at least 720HD 60fps recording (my PC currently chokes in this aspect)

General office use

What I've seen so far:

I've heard that a 4 or better 6 core processor with at least 16GB of RAM would be good

I live in a hot area so thermals may be of concern (In summer it is 95+ regularly in my house)

I have a flexible budget but let's aim for 500ish US dollars

Thank you!

Go for Ryzen 5 1600, get 16 GB of DDR4-3000 RAM, and some mobo to support it

Actually stock cooler can handle overclocked Ryzens no problem. though it won't be the most silent cooler. A 212 evo only costs $20, so it's really down to personal preferences.

Okay, thanks. I think I'll use ryzen for my next build in a few months but the i5 7600k just dropped 20 bucks and makes it worth it because it can be used with the ASUS TUF 2 which I really like. Thanks though.
