Hello everyone! I'm brand-new to the forum and brand-new to PC Building.

I would like to build a Gaming PC, as all I have right now is a MacBook Pro (Great for productivity and creativity, not so great for gaming).

I would love to hear any advice and tips y'all have to offer, since I am new to this.

So here is my planned build: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/LZ7WRG

Some important things to know:

  • I don't plan on starting to purchase parts for a couple months (probably in September or October).
  • My budget is $700 (USD), a little over is fine, but I'd like to stay as close as possible to 700.
  • I REALLY REALLY like that case (Thermaltake Core V21)
  • I plan on using a PS4 controller for gaming (I don't plan on gaming with that weird keyboard on the list)
  • I like the Black & White theme I have so far.
  • I would add 8GB more RAM in the future (to total 16GB).
  • I like that the motherboard has 5.1 audio.
  • My monitor would be a 32" 1080p Samsung television.
  • I would like to future proof as much as possible without breaking the bank.

Main questions:

  • Is this build easily upgradable?
  • Is everything compatible?
  • Will I be able to play most modern games on "High" or "Very High" at 50-70 fps?
  • Did I even choose good parts?
    • Ex: The 1050 Ti SSC seems great and is priced well, but is it best for my build? etc.
  • Will this build keep me happy for at least 5 years with little-to-no upgrading (other than adding more RAM)?

Thanks so much!

Sorry if I'm giving too much information, and if I gave too little information, let me know and I'll happily share more.

*Also notice that at the time of this posting, the Graphics card I chose is out of stock. So the listed total price should have $157.98 added to it*

Do you really think the 1400 is better? I would think it is less good for gaming, I am new to this but it makes a bit of sens to me

Wow. Thank you everyone for the quick replies.

I see almost everyone suggesting AMD Ryzen 5.

I've been using Intel essentially my whole life, so AMD would be new to me.

In your opinion, why AMD? What are the pros? What are the cons? What's different about it?

Thanks!

(P.S. I don't plan on overclocking. I'm not sure if that makes a difference.)

I think you would do better with a better gpu, something like a 1060 (3gb)? Or is that out of your budget?

How good is the 1060 (3GB) compared to the 1050ti (4GB)? (Sorry if the answer is obvious, I'm new to all this)

Pricing all depends on everything together. If I can get a 1060 and still stay under $700 (USD) total, then that will work.

Thanks.
