GTX 1080

Go to solution Solved by SlaughterSmurf,

My 780 ti plays modern games at 1440p medium/high settings. It's about 4 years old, so if that's any indication. However, the 1080 is better for 1440p now, than the 780ti was for 1440p in 2013 if that makes sense. The 1080 runs at 4k what the 780ti ran at 1440p. I would say it'll be running at high settings in 3-4 years at 1440p for AAA games.

Edit: This is what I think and I am confident. I bought a 1080 with the intention of it lasting at 1440p for like 5 years while I go through university. However, I don't have a crystal ball. Maybe games become way more demanding relative to current games than games today relative to 2013 games.

Hello. I was just wondering, if I were to buy a gtx 1080 right now to play games at 1440p, how long do you think it would last in terms of keeping AAA titles at high settings above 60fps. Taking the advancements in video games within the next few years into account. Though, at the moment I just want to play games like overwatch and battlefield 1, I'm really just curious as to how useful it will be 3 to 4 years from now.

Thanks for the help!

well, if you turn down the settings a bit i may last 4-5 years, at least for games like overwatch. BF1 is a complete different story

Well it plays bf1 at max setting on 1440 with 90-120 frames average for me. Only other game I use my 1080 for that isn't frame limited which is battlegrouds which is a horrible example. I do however get 60+ on ultra but I would never play it like that while its still in beta.
