Hello! I'm new here, my names Chris.

I heard this place was the best place for a mature community and thought i could ask a few questions here and there about computer questions.

So my question is, is a 500w power supply enough for a MSI radeon R9 270x?

I do not know how to measure how much power my computer is using but i have been running this set up for 2 years now with a 500w power supply.

My specs are currently this

Intel i5 3550

Sapphire radeon HD 6850

Asus P8z77-m motheboard

8 gigs of Samsung ram. Model MV-3V4G3/US

Powersupply is a corsair CX500

and then a 1T harddrive, a 160 gig ssd, 5 case fans and a CD drive

Nothing is overclocked, as i don't really need it. (Yes i know it gives free power and performance, but i honestly do not need it)

Let me know if there are easy to use tools that i can use to check my power output. I have some experience in computers since im studying for computers as my life career.

yes 500w will be enough, the 270x does not consume much power at all (125w during gaming)

First of all: Welcome to the forums buddy! :D Hope you enjoy your stay :)

Second of all: You should be fine by a good margin so nothing to worry about :) Corsair PSUs are also generally good quality (even the lower end ones) so there should not be much at all to worry about :)
