Screen flickers on new built computer

My friend and I just built a new computer and everything works fine, but when he goes into youtube, the monitor flickers to black. We installed the nvidia game ready driver for the gtx 1050 that is inside the computer and the monitor is new. Finally, the copy of windows is not activated and was acquired through some pretty sketchy methods (we backed up windows and downloaded it on the new computer and used a windows key from some Indian website, and it worked). What could be causing the flickering and is there any solution? Any help is appreciated :)
