Pretty much. :)) Are you using an AIO? (All in one) if so what?

You take out the block, clean the block and the CPU, remove all cables, remove everything else, replace case and re-install everything. :)

If its a custom look I would make sure nothing has power and very carefully (have buckets and lots of paper towl around) disconnect one of the fittings (generally the lowest in the case is where i like to start) and drain the coolant. be careful even when it stops flowing there that doesnt mean your loop is empty , more water will come as you take apart other connections keep the bucket and paper towels apart.

Once you've got the loop apart simply remove the water block clean the thermal paste (rubbing alcohol and lint free cloth is what I prefer) and install whatever you want to use.

Wait do I actually have to take apart the entire thing manually? All i want to do is just remove the heat sink on it and take out the motherboard. Do I really have to drain everything lol? And no domingo its not an AIO, i got a tower.

Oh sorry i thought you wanted to change the cpu block. I mis understood.

If you're just trying to change the mobo and you have enough slack in your tubes you might be able to do it without draining the system. Id still suggest having lots of paper towels around in case and if at all possible another set of hands to help you.
