So as my friend was plugging in his gpu with a 8 pin and split 8 pin connector he put the split part of the 8 pin upside down so it was ground and postive  upside down because the power plug kinda broke on the side so they keying was not protecting which way to put it in turned it on tiny bit of smoke no turned it right off no scorch marks or blown capcitors still boots up and gamed \ heaven bench stress tested it for a couple hrs till till i got a bsod. Eventually got a DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL” but still works. Think the gpu is ok ?

@Dan1643 Sounds like he damaged but didn't kill it. Prime example of a power supply being able to kill more expensive components. Lesson here is they have guided plugs for a reason, to prevent them being inserted the wrong way. Don't use damaged connectors/cheap PSUs in future. He could carry on, it may be fine with the problem being intermittent or it could die for good soon. Either way he's hurt it.
