either go ryzen 1600 and a 1070 or i5 7600k and a 1070, no need for i7.

please go ryzen, unless you're doing high refreshrate 1080p gaming

Ryzen 5 3600 stock | 2x16GB C13 3200MHz (AFR) | GTX 760 (Sold the VII)| ASUS Prime X570-P | 6TB WD Gold (128MB Cache, 2017)

Samsung 850 EVO 240 GB

138 is a good number.

I really want a 1070 but due to mining the prices have increased heaps and also, I want 1080p gaming! I played on consoles for most of my gaming times, i want to experience this pc master race! :) thanks for reply.

also i just realized that you are trying to get a b250 motherboard, you should go for H270 for that 7700, but really consider ryzen (as it will be better for recording/streaming/multicore cpu stuff) unless you only game.

if you can, wait for the prices to go back down (or vega/volta) and then buy that. 1050ti isn't good value and shouldnt belong in a computer with a 7700 (just use iGPU for a while)

Ryzen 5 3600 stock | 2x16GB C13 3200MHz (AFR) | GTX 760 (Sold the VII)| ASUS Prime X570-P | 6TB WD Gold (128MB Cache, 2017)

Snip

You should not be building an Intel system in your price-range. the one and only time Intel is better than Ryzen for gaming is for high refresh rate 1080p gaming. your budget does not allow you to get a high refresh rate monitor or GPU solution to power it properly. Due to that you should invest in the equally capable gaming CPU (because the rest of your system is going to limit it's potential performance in gaming anyway) and purchase the cheaper Ryzen 1400, 1500x or 1600, which not only saves you money on your CPU, but likely also saves you money on your motherboard and cooling solution... and it allows overclocking (provided you buy a B350 or X370 motherboard)! Ryzen also offers more cores (on a 1600 or higher) than an i7, which results in better performance for a larger variety of tasks, whilst keeping your gaming performance on par with a locked i7 (again, since your system is going to prevent your CPU from being fully utilized anyway). You should also not purchase a CPU cooler if you go Ryzen, the stock coolers on the units listed above are plenty good for stock operation and even a decent amount of overclocking.

Get a cheaper SSD as well. the 850 EVO is amazing (i have the 500GB myself) but in your price range its a bit expensive compared to other offerings, and you could use those funds towards more important components. the performance difference between the 850 EVO and pretty much any other cheaper SATA drive you can find is negligible for a user like you (there is a rotten tomato here and there, but just pick something cheaper with good reviews and you'll be fine).

your PSU is probably a poor choice... you should find something of higher quality. Pick something from T3, T2, or T1 on this list: https://linustechtips.com/main/topic/631048-psu-tier-list-updated/#comment-8149083

Use the money saved in all those areas to buy a massively better GPU (like a 1070) and if there is money leftover, upgrade to 16GB of RAM. 3000/3200MHz is ideal for Ryzen, but anything will be fine for your use-case if you cannot afford it or for some reason its otherwise unavailable.

If you need help reaching 1070 territory, don't get those extensions just yet. extensions are easy and cheap to add in later to any build, much easier and cheaper than upgrading a core component like a GPU anyway.

Here's a way better deal with a 1070 and 1600X and a red and black theme. When I converted it it was only $50 over.

that PSU has no business being in that system especially when you have the budget to avoid doing so. that is a very bad idea, especially if he does ANY overclocking. .

and there is no need to spend an extra $100 on a 1600x+cooler when you could get a 1600 with the stock cooler and have it perform basically the same in games (unless for some reason he insists on running stock frequencies).

when building a parts list on PC part picker you don't want to simply look at the exchange rate then pick your parts based on US pricing, pricing varies outside of the exchange rate, PC Part Picker has a country drop down in the top right so you can select that currency and stores in that country, modifying your build to similar parts to replace the pieces you selected that can't be bought in Australia put the build more then 400 AUD over budget

I swapped out of your original NZXT elite case, as it was really pricey for this kind of build. If you can stretch your budget another $100 or take the 1070 down to a 1060 (still going to have to wait for it to be available though) then you can keep it if you really had your heart set on that case (and if you do, change the motherboard to the B350 Tomohawk from MSI, best black/red ATX mobo for the money, for Ryzen, if you ask me). The replacement case is a gorgeous Inwin mATX case though, and it should fit your needs just as well.

Other than that there are a few things missing, such as your red fans or cable extensions, but those can be cheaply added in the future if you decide you want/need them. I opted not to put a HDD in your system since you left it out initially as well, and I'm assuming that was intentional (if it wasn't, step down the SSD to a 120 and put in a 1TB HDD such as a WD Blue Drive or Seagate Barracuda)

I changed your monitor to a 60hz IPS panel, rather than a 75hz TN panel. That is largely a preference choice and I picked it only to show you that the option is there. You can decide if you want higher refresh rate (TN) or better colour accuracy/Contrast Ratio (IPS). They're about the same price so just choose whichever is right for you.

Upgraded your choice of PSU as those green label corsair units lack high quality components and are prone to power irregularities under load (which can mess with overclocks and system stability)

despite all these changes, I kept you well on the path of your black/red theme! (although the monitor has a bit of silver on it... but you could always opt for the one you chose instead)

All of this puts you very slightly over $1600, but I do think it really is your best bet if that is your budget... the only downside is in order to afford it all you should really wait on buying until GPU's return to stock and the prices settle down... You could always buy some cheap older GPU used from a place like Craigslist (or whatever the Aussie equivalent to that is) for 50-100 just to keep you functional until 1070's become available again, then resell the used GPU for whatever you bought it for and lose no money.
