Headset recommendations

Go to solution Solved by JLCitadel,

Well clearly you're not an audiophile so I'm pretty sure you could careless about a tiny difference in sound quality. Grab a logitech G930, I use it for semi-pro gaming and it works fine. Great quality, mic is clear and clean. It's wireless & can be played wired while charging. It has 7.1 which many of the people here argue isn't different. I disagree as it's helped me locate people very easily in any shooter I play. Not to mention the sound quality is tremendously better then a normal headset so it's a step up either way. & You'll love it. + It's around 100$, and it's almost black friday you could probably find a 75$ pair some where on sale.

I will be buying a new headset *Purely for gaming and music* because mine is total crap, I had a few in mind that are withing my price range and was hoping to get some feedback on them.

- SteelSeries siberia V2

- Razer Kraken Pro

- Razer Kraken 7.1 usb

I was kind of leaning towards the Steel Series headset because i could get that in red which would go with my other peripherals, but the razer kraken pro is said to be better in some ways which might make it a better purchase. I am not sure of which one of these to get and what the exact differences are The razer Kraken 7.1 usb was also something i was considering but I am not sure how much the surround sound and digital mic will improve over the kraken pro and if it will be worth it. Please try to give me a comparison on these headsets, please dont give any other suggestions that will make me more confused :P

Don't get a headset, the sound quality is shit.

Something like a Sennheiser HD 558 or ATH M50 with a zalman ZM-MIC1 will be much better.

7.1 also doesn't really help because the drivers are so close to each other.

"Gaming" headsets are terrible don't buy them, the sound quality is bad and the soundstage is usually worse. For gaming the AD-700 by Audio Technica. They have the best positional audio of any headset however they might not be the best for music.

Sennheiser HD 558s have very good sound and really good positional audio so those would probably the the best option for you.

One exception i found for a gaming headset is the sennheiser pc360. Similar to the 558s but with a boom mic that is pretty good.
