cat7 isnt a thing you should care about

cat6A is for 10 gigabit.

cat6 is mostly for doing gigabit along extremely "noisy" environments like in patchpanels or datacenters without having to worry (much) about interference.

cat5e is what most people use for gigabit stuff, and the difference in price mostly comes from the amount of shielding, or the physical strength of the cable.

my preferred cable for the home is cat5e, they're cheap, they do the job.

Personally my home network runs on Cat6. In the past I've found Cat5e to have issues with speeds not defaulting to Gigabit and locking at 100mbit. (Not a problem if you're ok with changing settings back and forth) but for ease of use I prefer Cat6.

I don't think its an issue everyone will have experienced. All I know is it annoyed me to no end xD

Had to keep going back into the adapter properties and changing the speed.

It's up to you really. Cat 5e & 6 will both do the job. But if you want Cat7, you do you.

There is an ISO standard for what Cat7 cables have to be made of and what specifications they have to meet (ISO/IEC_11801) but it isn't recognized here in the US by the TIA/EIA, meaning that you can't get in trouble in the US for selling a "Cat7" cable that doesn't meet the specifications. And it's well known that many Cat6 and Cat6A cables don't meet the specification already anyway.

If you want to prepare for the future a bit, I recommend getting a Cat6 or better cable. But unless you're running the cable through the wall, you might as well just get a Cat5e cable because cables do degrade over time, and it may be a long time before your WAN connection exceeds 1Gb. Also, the new 2.5Gb and 5Gb ethernet standards only require Cat5e anyway.

Looking to buy GTX690, other multi-GPU cards, or single-slot graphics cards:
