Lines through monitor

Boyborg690

Hey there. I've been using a monitor for 6 months and 2 months ago a red line went through it. I thought nothing of it because it wasn't my primary. A few days ago a second line showed up and I took my monitor apart to check if the board was bad. Nothing was going on back there and after putting it back together it worked fine. It showed up again, I punched my monitor and the 2nd line went away. I got on and have been playing non stop and the monitor has that line again and nothing can fix it. Any suggestions?

You can try RMA if you can. I don't think there's an easier fix.

I can't RMA because this was an RCMP surplus monitor that I got for free.

try squeezing the upper and lower bezzels where the lines are. Sometimes it's just a wonky contact

Another thing is the monitor is extremely hot in this area if that does anything. It may be the LCD I guess.

Does it show up in all display modes (VGA, HDMI, DVI, etc)? Maybe it's just there from on those ports or cables going bad?

If it's there in all then there's really nothing to do about it.

Try a different cable. If that doesn't work RMA.

Try using the buttons on the monitor to factory reset its settings. This generally works, unless it's a physical fault, which it sounds like it could be. Might as well try, though.

I have used different cables but this even happens when the monitor isn't being used by anything. Buttons don't do anything. Like I said earlier RMA isnt a thing because RCMP surplus.

if squeezing the bezel doesn't help (ie bad contacts) then you most likely won't be able to fix it (atleast not fairly easily or cheaply)
I kknow it's probably not the answer you are hoping for, but I would recommend getting a new monitor instead or learn to live with the line..

Have you tried to perform a sudden temporary interrupt of the electricity flow to your computational device followed by a re-initialization procedure of the central processing unit and associated components?
