Ram speed

Hey everyone,

 

I have upgraided my pc a long time ago with some new ram. I went from 2x2 GB to 2x4 GB. Today i opend a program were i could see my pc specs and i saw that my ram had a max bandwidth of 666.7 MHz and on the site i bought them they say it runs on 1600 MHz. How is this possible? 

I did check my bios if i could change it there but i was not abel to change any thing.

 

my pc's specs:

Mobo: Msi 870a-g54

CPU: AMD Athlon II x4 640

Memory: Corsair Value Select CMV8GX3M2A1600C11 DDR3

(I know its outdated but money problems)

 

does anyone know how to fix this problem?

The motherboard you have supports 1600MHz only when overclocking the ram. Highest it will go without overclocking is 1333, which is the speed your is running at currently.

DDR stands for Double Data Rate (synchronous dynamic random-access memory). The number you're seeing in the Control Center needs to be doubled to get the frequency at which your memory is currently running.

It's running at the default speed of 1333MHz. Since DDR means double data rate, 667 x 2 will give you that number.

Your CPU can't handle  more than 666.7 mhz. So that's why you stuck on this number and can't get higher. If you want to get the actual RAM speed you need a better CPU and maybe a better Motherboard.
