System feels sluggish

Go to solution Solved by Zando_,

Run a malware scan and update all your drivers.

Hello everybody!

So since some time my PC feels so sluggish ...

Many programs need way too long to start, Windows explorer takes forever sometimes to open file directories.

I just want a fast experience when I am using my PC !

My Hardware shouldn't be the problem, I hope:

OS: Windows 10 latest Update

CPU: i7-6700K @ 4,7 GHz

MB: Asus Maximus VIII Formula

C drive: Samsung 960 Pro 1 TB

D drive: 2 x Samsung 950 Pro 1 TB in Raid0

gfx cards: 2 x 1080 Ti (Asus FE)

Last new windows installation ~2 weeks ago

That could be the cause!

I opted to install as few drivers as possible and let Windows do its stuff... (read it would be better, somewhere...)

well, you have ssds so its not the drive speed. could be a corrupted OS. If it is truly windows xp level slow you might want to format the c drive and reinstall windows after pulling off all important files. If its only a little slow than I would just chalk it up to windows programs adjusting to the windows update.

okay thanks! Could be the windows update thing, I did a fresh install like 2 weeks ago!

Additionally, could it be my overclock?

I remember a few years back, you had to increase the VCCIO (or whatever ^^) voltage too and do some fine tuning.

But I kept it fairly low with 4,7 GHz

If the overclock is unstable it could cause problems. Perhaps you should dial it back a bit to see if it fixes the problem.
