I'm doing a new build in a Define R4 and trying to get my fans in order. I was thinking three 140mm intakes (2 front and 1 bottom), but also removing the rear fan and only having the two top mounted 120mm rad. fans be the only exhaust. I was thinking it would help give me more positive pressure in my case to keep more dust out. Thoughts??

Positive pressure keeping dust out is bullshit, and airflow has almost no effect on cooling.

your system will take in dust even if it has 'positive pressure' the only thing that matters is dustfilters....

airflow is marketing BS, ofcours removing the HD cages will help getting more air to the GPU/CPU but its not that your GPU/CPU temps will suddenly drop 10 degrees...

To keep the case as silent as possible with as little dust as possible, mount the H100i in the front intake slots, use one of the case fans as bottom intake and the other fan as rear exhaust and cover the top vents with the moduvents. This will probably raise your VRM and GPU temps a bit, but it will yield the least amount of dust and be the quietest configuration.

Dust will get into your system regardless, and creating positive pressure is just an excuse to be lazy about cleaning the crap out of your system. And diminishing returns on airflow kicks in VERY quickly. Try it yourself. Bring all your fans down to 5V, run Furmark, and compare the temperatures to your fans going full blast. There's like a 2 degree difference.

If the game is demanding, ramping up my case fans from 5v to 12v typically drops my GPU temps by at least 5c, but this is obviously case by case (heh) since the R4 is an oven and causes my cards to run comparatively warm, turning up the fans is a big deal. The dust will indeed always accumulate, but if you keep the top vents closed the rate that dust builds is is incredibly slow.

It's a great case to force positive pressure with, especially since you can never really have too much pressure in this case due to the opening from the drive bays (unless both are occupied)
