Designing and programming a graphics card

I’ve been given the worlds smallest display, made by Microemissive Displays LTD (originally by some PHD students at Edinburgh Uni), and have been asked to build a driver for it. What would i need to pull from the data sheet in order to communicate and interact with the pixels on the screen?

This seems a bit odd. Someone gave you this valued object and asked you to make something as advanced as a driver for it and you are seeking a forum for help with the first step?
