I recently got a 3960X and be quiet dark rock pro 3 on an Asus rampage iv from my cousin who upgraded. I am new to overclocking and need to know what to do. Do I just change the multiplier and leave it if it's stable or do I have to fiddle around with voltages and that sort of stuff.

Thanks

Set the cpu voltage to manual and fixed at 1.35v and then start with the multiplier at 42 and see if that is stable with a quick 10min stress test then move the multiplier up 1 and test again. Just repeat this until it crashes or fails the test. T

Then once it fails put it back to the last speed that it didn't crash at. You should be looking at 4.4ghz minimum. Also make sure the temps don't go above 85c while the stress test is running.

If the temps are well below 80c in stress test even at highest speed on 1.35v you can try 1.4v and see if it will go a bit higher. It should hit 4.6ghz + on 1.4v.
