Intel X299 Performance

I was curious on peoples thoughts on the new platform as im most likely going to be buying into it (most likely the 7820x). I currently have a i7 6700k and although great at gaming im really looking for a more powerful CPU workstation wise. As of now I dont want to pre-order as its not a safe bet, how long should I wait before buyin it. Any other thoughts aswell are interesting to talk about.

They perform just as they should be, a little faster than previous generation. If your intention is Gaming, just stick with your current processor. If workstation is your primary intention it is good to wait until Threadripper comes out and then make a decision. And yes, Do not preorder anything.

I plan on doing more than just gaming so I will (mostlikely) move to the 7820X but Im going to wait a week or two see if any deal breakers emerge. As for threadripper, is there any leaks on that?
