Yeah, figured as much. Thanks alot though. :)

One thing if I might ask, how dangerous is it to use my windows install USB? Could it get infected in any way? Is it even possible?

Genrally ver uncommon

Hey guys,

A family member gave me their screen and pc in one thing (more like a laptop architecture inside).

And I was wondering how far an encryption virus can go, can it go into the bios/motherboard or CPU cache?

I don't have too much experience with virusses so I don't if it's possible. Im planning on replacing the HDD anyways.

And then for my second question, if I get this bracket;

Spoiler

 3.5'' Bracket voor 2.5'' harde schijf Geschikt voor: 2.5″ HDD / SSD

Wil the potential SSD just slide in into the HDD slot on the predefined spot?

Thanks in advance!!!

Edit: And can the virus infiltrate my USB-stick which I have a win10 installation on?

Depends on what virus.Cache is volatile meaning that evreytime you shut of your computer the virus would go away.If it got into Bios just reflash it.

And yes the SSd will slide in

Ah oke. Is changing the jumper for the CMOS the same? (I wouldn't know how to flash the motherboard, everything sais with a CD or whatever but the most I've done with updating my bios is to update it with the automatic online installer from my asus z170 deluxe mobo xD)

edit: the jumper is the top blue thingy. It sais CMOS next to it.
