The 2 white ports should be sata 6gbs use these ports for HDD (port 0 if possible) and use any of the sats 3 gbs for the Dvd drive (port 5 is best option)

Have you connected the SATA power? Sata data cables are flat and wide cables - for an HDD and CD drive, it doesn't really matter what SATA port you use on your motherboard. I would suggest you use the 6gb/s port (will be a different colour to the rest of them ) but it won't make a difference.
