i my budget is 500-600 or a 1080 ref which is just over that btw my psu is 750 watt so power isnt an issue

for 689$ish you could do a 7600k and a gtx 1070.  I know that is a bit over but with deals and rebates you may be in it to win it.  And that is newegg pricing

Hello again my pc cooling issue was resolved and is working with a cool room, but i saved alot of money with the solution i was wondering if i should get a new gpu or cpu i have an AMD AM3+ fx 8550 cpu and a Geforce Gtx 950 Zodiac Amp. I want a smoother gaming time but right now dying light gets about 40 ik its playable but all my friends have i7 7700k and 1080ti and i only have enough for one which should get i already have a mobo for the i7 so that is no problem.

Thanks,

Captainjigglesworth

I would go ahead and buy the processor if you already have the motherboard. Your cpu is much older than your gpu.

what is the final budget cause you maybe could do skylake and a midrange card for the price.  Then you dont have to choose.

  • CPU
    i7 6700k overclocked to 4.7 GHZ @1.38v
  • Motherboard
ASUS ROG Maximus VIII Hero Alpha
  • RAM
    32GB Gskill Ripjaws @3200mhz
  • GPU
    ASUS ROG Geforce 980
  • Case
    CoolerMaster HAF X
  • Storage
500 GB SSD and 12TB mechanical HDD some soon to be split to NAS
  • PSU
    EVGA 1000 G1

1070 is a great card.  It runs laps around my 980 even in harder to play games such as ARK.  As far as the 7600k its at least overclockable

it kinda does kinda doesnt.  Crapshoot really.  Although you should be able to run skylake on ddr3 just fine.  Save a bit of money as well,  price to performance skylake to kabylake isnt that huge of a gap.
