Can you run PhysX on an AMD Radeon HD card (like a 7950). I'm actually a bit confused about this.

Main rig:

• Ryzen 3600X • X370 Killer SLI • 16GB Corsair LPX 3200Mhz • Strix 1070ti • Define R5 • SuperNova 750 G2 • Evo 1TB + X300 4TB •

Secondary rig:

• Acer prebuilt • Rzyen 1700X (upgraded) • OEM 1060 3GB • 256GB SSD + 1TB Seagate (upgraded) •

No you cannot run it on an AMD card, it will be either automatically disabled, or offloaded to the CPU.
Could you tell me more about the offloading or give a link.

PS. You have actually replied to all of my posts, I like joined a week a go

I believe it is possible, if you have a nVidia card, which can be used as a PhysX card. At one point there was a hack for Borderlands, which made it possible to run PhysX from an AMD card. Don't quote me on any of this though.
Is an old GeForce 8800 GTS a viable option

No you cannot run it on an AMD card, it will be either automatically disabled, or offloaded to the CPU.
For offloading PhysX onto your CPU you usually don't need to do anything, it will be automatically done for you, unless Nvidia is trying to be intentionally a pain in your behind, and disable it.

If it was intentionally disabled (which rarely occurs) then you can enable it yourself usually through simple .ini file editing, but it could be different depending on the game.

I have an AMD card myself and usually when I play a PhysX enabled game I just leave it off, because usually PhysX supported games look cartoony or not really graphically centered/focused like borderlands 2.

If you happen to enjoy physX though and you think that its really worth it just grab a cheap used GTX 260/460 and use it as a dedicated PhysX card in Hybrid PhysX mode.
