Ga78-lmt-usb3 mobo help

My friend is having an issue with his Gigabyte mobo. The hdd stopped reading, my first assumption was probably a dead drive, but started walking him through possible solutions. Ie: clearing cmos, trying a different sata port, cleaning evening out, blah blah blah. We get to reinstalling windows at which point it asks to install hard disk driver, after a quick search I assume it's taking about sata /ahci, the problem is in not sure how to get the driver  installed and I don't have access to the computer personally. So some  quick advice to get through this would be appreciated.

TLDR; How do I install the sata/ahci driver on the Gigabyte ga78lmt mobo without being able to get into windows?

Can you browse for a driver location during the installation? It could be somewhere in the motherboard's CD.
