should i upgrade?

i was wondering iit is worth it to upgrade my cpu from a xeon E5620 to an I3-7100 for gaming and video editing

The days of i3s are over, the G4560 has basically made it obsolete, but for video editing and gaming, it is best to save up for a Ryzen 1400.

A Pentium G4560 is just as good as most i3s, just it costs a lot less. It's around $60-$80 USD (I think $60), and it's a 3.5GHz 2c/4t CPU.

Rather get Xeon E5-2560

then ill have to buy a motherboard for that cpu right?i just wanna know if it will work the i3

The motherboard for the Xeon won't work for the i3 either, and yes, get the cheapest B350 motherboard for the Ryzen you can get.

If you come from that Xeon you will need to upgrade RAM to DDR4, motherboard cause it is using different socket and get that CPU. Rather get Xeon E5-2650 (8/16 @ 2 GHz)
