So I was browsing RAM on ebay and craigslist until I stumbled upon 8gb ddr4 2400 for 40 dollars. I was super excited about to buy it (its for my new ryzen upgrade coming up) since I'm on a tight budget and cutting costs is key and right before I did, I saw this

ECC Registered RAM... GUH&WYEGFTSU*QWA DHIEWASH BFV

So I did some research and was curious if ECC RAM worked with Ryzen. This is the mobo I am planning to buy http://www.asrock.com/mb/AMD/AB350 Pro4/#Specification

and if you scroll down it says - "AMD Ryzen series CPUs support DDR4 3200+(OC)/2933(OC)/2667/2400/2133 ECC & non-ECC, un-buffered memory*"

So does this mean it would work (I am planning on getting the 1600) and if it does work would there be performance gains to non-ecc memory?

High speed ram is important with ryzen, it's the backbone of amd's infinity fabric stuff which has a pretty big impact on ryzen overall cpu performance. That ram should work if you don't care about the performance gains you'll be missing out on

Performance loss cause of speed, or ecc?

cause the lack of speed, ecc afaik doesn't cause any real performance loss and can prevent minor errors that can otherwise lead to a crash, not really a big deal unless 99.999% uptime is a must

I did some research and even if it cant get above 2400 it is fine for the gpu and res I play at. But would it work? WOuld it run in non ecc mode or something? Because I made a whole thread about the ram assuming it was non ecc (I thought it was non ecc) and we came to the conclusion that the speed would be fine. My only question is if the ecc would cause issues.

no, the board says it supports ecc and AMD while not validated does work http://www.hardwarecanucks.com/forum/hardware-canucks-reviews/75030-ecc-memory-amds-ryzen-deep-dive.html
