Looking to make my first pc that is $500AUD. (I'm willing to go over for a optical drive)

The system is mainly going to be used for gaming as well as day to day work.

I'm planing of running 1 moniter but might run 2.

I have the moniter (ASUS VS197T-P 18.5" WXGA 1366x768 DVI VGA Back-lit LED Monitor ) and a keyboad and mouse

PLEASE MAKE SURE THE PARTS CAN SHIP TO AUS. Thanks. Also if you can see inside the case from the left side that'd be great

Agree with this build apart from the PSU. Those PSU's are nutorious for being trash. I would change it to the ones with the black text, or something like a EVGA B1.

Motherboard: ASUS Crosshair VII Hero
RAM: 16GB (2x8) Trident Z RGB 3200MHZ
SSD: Samsung 960 EVO NVME SSD 1TB, Intel 1TB NVME

Graphics Card: Asus ROG Strix GTX 1080Ti OC

No, the old Corsair CX series are fine. People like to exaggerate.

And to be honest, the EVGA B1 series are not any better.

The Corsair CX430 is fine. The Corsair CX450M would be even better but that's another $20.

EVGA B1 (500w will be fine) or the CX550M.

Any corsair PSU with green/white writing is trash. The ones in silver / black are great.

No, it's not. These PSU's are nutorious for having several problems, the voltage regulation is trash, it had medicore build quality and has one of the shittiest hold times there is. Even the garbage in-win psus have higher hold up times.

Do not buy the corsair CX430.

It's a great PSU. You don't want to cheap out on a PSU, when PSU's die they tend to take other components with them.

Do not buy the corsair CX430.

You call the Corsair CX430 trash but then recommend the EVGA 500B when it's not any better?

You say that the voltage regulation is trash... JonnyGuru's hot box testing for progressive load tests saw the 12V rail output ranging from 11.82V to 11.95V, which is well within the ATX spec and is rather quite good. 5V rail saw 4.99V to 5.10V which is still good. 3.3V saw 3.25V to 3.31V which is still decent.

The build quality, at best, is comparable to the EVGA 500B. And the hold-up time is still within Intel's requirements...

So yeah, I find your use of the word "trash" to be over-exaggerated. There are much worse power supplies. The Corsair CX430 is not the absolute best power supply on the market, in fact it's quite mediocre, but it's not as bad as people made it out to be. The EVGA B1 series by HEC are not any better.

500b still has better hold times, the cx430 is far below atx regulation... below inwin infact

besides I reccomended the cx500m in the end (newer, non garbage one)

ATX specification says the 12V rail must be within 11.4V to 12.6V, the 5V rail must be within 4.75V to 5.25V and the 3.3V rail must be within 3.14V to 3.31V. The CX430 is well within those specs so I don't know why you're saying it's not.

You can do far worse with the hold up times and it's not the end of the world... it's not as if we're powering a high-end build with a GTX 1080Ti... we're powering a G4560 + RX 460 which has extremely low power requirements.

BTW, the CX500M is one of the older models that you call "trash".

CX550M* which is one of the new ones.

and it's irrelevant, you can get far better PSUs for the money. It's one of corsair's weakest products and one of the only ones I consider pathetic quality. Are you trying to justfiy a PSU that is being beaten by Areocool and Inwin?

Yes, because they're not as laughably bad as you're trying to make them out to be. I'm fairly sure others on this forum will share the same view.
