hello,

so when i bought my laptop it had 4gb of ram, and it allocated 512 mb to "hardware reserved".

i presume this is used as video ram for the amd apu that's in it.

now, i upgraded to 8gb, and now it allocates 1gb of ram.

i don't need that much vram, so how can i make it allocate only 512 or even 256 mb of ram for the graphics?

The "hardware reserve" RAM isn't just for vram. It also is dedicated to things like your kernel, and other core functionalities of your OS that is needed to make it run on your hardware. Windows chooses how much it needs based off your PC I believe. If you really do want to reduce what vram is taking, then go to your graphics adapter properties for your IGPU.
