Anthlon x4 860k is the best CPU on that socket, but it would be a waste of money to pick it up

CPU: I5 4590 Motherboard: ASROCK H97 Pro4 Ram: XPG 16gb v2.0 4x4 kit  GPU: Gigabyte GTX 970 PSU: EVGA 550w Supernova G2 Storage: 128 gb Sandisk SSD + 525gb Mx300 SSD Cooling: Be Quiet! Shadow Rock LP Case: Zalman T2 Sound: Logitech Z506 5.1 Mouse: Razer Deathadder Chroma Keyboard: DBPower LED

ryzen 1400 might be a cheap option, otherwise a pentium g4560 is only $70 usd

None of those is FM2+.

OP, you won't find any substantial upgrade from your A10, and the iGPU won't hurt you even if you don't use it. But if you are dead set on getting any extra bit you can within the same socket, and you are sure you don't want an iGPU at all, I guess the best would be the Ahtlon II X4 880K.

I'm saying a much more substantial upgrade would be an entire cpu/mobo upgrade.  A10 to athlon and the fx lineup are outdated and can't do as much today.  A $150-200 upgrade would be better than a pointless $75 upgrade

🙂

Debatable.

None of which answers OP's question. Also, a 1400 alone is $150, so there's no way you can upgrade CPU, motherboard, and RAM on that budget. You say "it makes more sense" to spend twice-three times as much, and you are still underestimating it, so it's more like at least 4 or 5 times as much.

You know what? I'll let OP decide what does ad does not make sense to him, and just answer what he asks.
