First gaming headset, need help!

Hi guys!

I mostly play BF4 and I want to get the best experience out of it. The Astro's are not available in my country. I narrowed my selections to these:

Sennheiser PC 350 SE

Sennheiser PC 360

Sennheiser PC 363D

I don't have a sound card but I heard the one on my mobo is pretty decent. (Asus Maximus V Formula)

Will I be able to get 7.1 Virtual Surround sound with this mobo using any of the headsets I mentioned above?

I prefer open-ear designs.

Thanks in advance! :)

350 SE are closed design so they're out

Out of the 360 and 363d I'd go 360. It's cheaper and you're not paying for the extra virtual 7.1 sound card with the 363d. You can use the option @ShearMe posted.

They also use the same drivers as the HD558/598 so if you don't need a mic or want to look at getting a cheaper headphone + mic combo, then that's another option you can take.

Thanks for the replies guys. They are much appreciated.

I discovered a new option. The HD598. How is it for gaming? They have the same price tag as the 360's in my country. I don't need a mic at all.

Btw I can't afford a sound card right now. Is the mobo enough for now?

Thanks!

Current options:

Sennheiser PC360

Sennheiser HD598

Get the 558's. Same headphone but cheaper.

You don't need a sound card.

I couldn't find them available anywhere in where I live. Thanks for the suggestion :)

Which one should I get? PC360 or HD598? (Mostly for gaming, sometimes for movies, music etc.)

Which ever is cheaper, you said you don't need a mic. I'd even start looking at other open headphone options at this point.

Just wondering how come you can't find the 558 but you can find the 598? Where are you from?

Yeah It's really strange. I found one actually but it is out of stock. I'm from Turkey btw.

Any other suggestions for a high-end gaming headset? Mic is not necessary, I don't need it actually. Prefer a one without it.

You could try to find the Beyerdynamic DT990 Pro. It's 250 ohm I think, so unless your onboard has one of those high-powered things, get something like the Fiio E10, and I think you might have to turn the gain on the bottom up? and it's called headphones when there's not a mic, I'm a little picky, lol

Thanks for the heads up mate :)

I am kinda leaning towards the PC 360 but the HD 598 is still an option.

Any other opinions on this?

The 990 have more bass, unless I am wrong. but the 598 / 558 don't need any amplification, so you can run them straight off your pc and phone.

Also, I have a pair of PC360's, they're basically the same as the 558 (and sort of the same as the 598, they all have pretty much the same drivers), they're alright, but you can get the 558's for less, and seeing as you don't need a mic, it's a bit of a stupid product for you. They're also less sturdy than the 558 and 598.

I decided to get the HD 598. Is the mobo I mentioned enough to drive these? I think it has a 300 ohm headphone amp.

I thought the 598's were made in Germany but I found out they were made in China... This made me change my opinion.

Everything is made in China, don't worry about it. If you want something made in a good country, you can get AKG headphones. (they're made in Austria), or Grado's which are made about 200 miles away from my in the bronx.

AKG moved to China too.

the 598's are only 50 ohm, so it's more than enough.

Yeah I got them a couple months ago.

Word, because a lot of their mainstream (non-professional) headphones and 240's say made in China. Me thinks that they left the high end production at the Austria facility.

I narrowed it down to these three:

Beyerdynamic DT 990 Pro

Beyerdynamic DT 880 Pro

Sennheiser HD 598

The 990 Pro is 100$ cheaper than the 880 Pro in where I live and the HD 598 shares the same price tag with the 990 Pro.

Sorry for all the trouble guys. Thanks for all the answers. They are much appreciated. :)

Btw I think the Beyerdynamic ones are made in Germany.

For the Beyerdynamic headphones my only option is 250 ohm variants.

Then you would need an amp, the conglomerate recommends FiiO E10's

I prefer the Sennheiser sound and fit, personally, but the DT 990 isn't bad. I haven't tried the HD 598 because I have an HD 650.
