Perhaps I'm being pedantic but can I mix the EK-cryofuel with distilled water in an empty Aquafina bottle? The instructions say "Store the remaining liquid into a PET bottle. Do not use any food or beverage container!" I'm hoping that's for long term storage; I'll end up discarding what I don't need.

The cryofuel is meant for only 3.25 cups of water -- not a gallon. So, I need to measure out appropriate portions. The only bottle I have on hand is said drinking water bottle.

They tell you not to use a food or beverage bottle because they don't want you to accidentally forget what is in the bottle some time down the road and take a drink of it.  Just being precautionary.

Not due to germs or other containments?

Sure, anything is possible but as you said, Store the remaining liquid into a PET bottle. Do not use any food or beverage container!".  They didn't say anything about germs or other contaminants, just said not to put in a food or beverage container.  And since it is EK-cryofuel with distilled water I wouldn't be too worried about the germ problem anyway.  Any germs probably wouldn't live in that stuff as it is and as for contaminants, what else did you plan on putting in the mix?  No, the warning is for people that don't pay attention to warnings.

The EK-CryoFuel is a new revolutionary coolant for PC liquid cooling systems. Our mission was to deliver the most chemically stable coolant that would provide enthusiasts and gamers with the best possible level of performance and thermal efficiency with the emphasis on color stability. Designed specifically for computer liquid cooling systems, we found our inspiration for CryoFuel in cryogenic fuels that are used at extremely low temperatures to operate in space machinery.

EK-CryoFuel coolant is a pure, non-toxic coolant based on the patent pending chemical formula, which prevents the creation of any sediments in the liquid cooling loop. Liquid cooling users can rest assured that the EK-CryoFuel coolant, with its very low viscosity, will not clog or damage their water blocks and other parts of the loop when used with EK-DuraClear or EK-ZMT tubing.

EK-CryoFuel also contains synergistic corrosion inhibitors to protect metals commonly found in computer liquid cooling systems. It has been tested in accordance with BS5117 (ASTM D1384) and found to meet corrosion standards for copper, brass, aluminum and stainless steel. This coolant also contains scale and biological inhibitors to help prevent fouling – thus promoting long operational life and high thermal efficiency.

All EK-CryoFuel mixtures are biodegradable (90% in a period of 10 days) and will not remain in the environment or cause any bioaccumulation. EK-CryoFuel offers a 2-year shelf life from date of bottling.

Just because it says that it is non-toxic does not mean it won't make you sick if you decide to drink it.

I suppose the makers figure the people that use their product must have at least a little common sense.

Cool. Last night, I cleaned the bottle (a bit much, I know) and then mixed it in there. I've been doing the leak test for the last few hours (7 or 8) and all is well.

I'm sure it'll be ok and I need to drain this in 5 or 6 months to add the GPU to the loop anyway. I appreciate your replies and the points you raised. I just don't want to gunck up the block(s) and I'm trying to "ask more, fix less".

No problem at all, glad to help.  And they also say the dumbest question is the question that goes un-asked.  If you put your leftovers in a clean bottle, it should last quite a while.  All you need to do is just shake the bottle every now and then to mix it up a bit because the EK-Cryofuel and the distilled water have different specific gravity.  They are real close to each other but still not the same so over time, they will separate.  Just give it a good shake once a month or so and you should be good to go for a long time.
