Help me. I'm going from a Intel i 7 6700 non k on a asrock h170m-its/ac to a ryzen 1700x on a msi x370 sli plus. I have a 120 gig Samsung 850 evo ssd as my boot and two hdd that are 2 terabytes each. Will I need to format and reinstall all of them or will windows recognize the change and just swap for me. I don't want to reinstall but if I have to I'd like to know.

Edit: also anyone know how to back up 3 terabytes of data so I can reinstall windows and then copy my old data back.

No, you do not usually need to reinstall. Certainly not on the storage drives, but even the OS drive handles hardware changes pretty well if you're using Windows 10.

You don't NEED to reinstall, but you must delete all the old drivers, and may need to reactivate windows. So no need to reinstall, but it's cleaner if you do.

Double core count and unlocked. Hardly a strange move.

Especially when I need it for physics simulation. GPUs are fast but CPUs are more accurate.
