Ok, i need an answer relatively quickly as the eBay listing is about to end :), thanks

I have an old PC that I have upgrades, it is an hp xw4600 workstation grade pc, I am looking at upgrading the 4gb to 8gb as it is the main limitation to my playing of games.

I have found an ebay listing for 4x2 sticks non ecc and 2x4 sticks of ecc. Now, I know that my motherboard supports ecc so that isn't a problem but may mian concern is that I dont know if it would support 4gb in one socket as it says it can tacke up to 8gb but it has 4 ram slots so i am assuming that it can only take 4x2.

Does anyone know if there is a barrier that would stop 4gb sticks from working?

Thanks

(also before you say get the 4x2 because its a safe choice, the 2x4 has faster shipping and i'm impatient so if i have any way of getting them then id rather get them)
