Hi,

I recently purchased a motherboard (used, off of ebay) for my system. When I put it in my system and turn it on, it posts, but after that, nothing happens. I can't enter bios by pressing the Delete key when it tells me to, or access the boot menu. When I try pressing a key to enter bios, I hear a beeping sound from the speaker, but nothing happens. It also does not boot up, even though I already have a copy of Windows installed. I believe that this is a bios problem, but is there any way I can fix this?

Specs:

i7-2600

Gigabyte GA-P61-S3

Asus R9 270x DirectCUII

Samsung 850 Evo

Corsair CX600M

Zalman R1

Obviously the keyboard functions or you wouldn't hear the beep when you hit the keys.  The motherboard that I have (Asus TUF Sabertooth FX990 3.0), gives me the option to hit either the DELETE or F2 keys, do you get that same option to choose?  Just thinking here, working on a brain dump.  Huh, how about the battery?  You said the mobo was used when you got it, is there a possibility the battery (cmos saver), is dead?  I'm just thinking that if the battery is dead it may not allow you to enter the cmos because it couldn't save it (bios information) if you did enter the BIOS.  I honestly don't know, but I have never used anything other than Asus boards for the last umpteen years so I'm just wondering what the options are here.  I'm gonna keep working on this so if I come up with something new, will let you know but for now that's all I got.  Sure hope it helps.  Good Luck.

It tells me to hit Delete to enter bios, so I pressed Delete. I tried the other options such as boot menu. Nothing worked. The motherboard came without a battery, so I put in a brand new battery (Model CR2032), and it still didn't work. Thanks though.

With Asus boards, you just can't get by with pressing the DELETE key.  What you gotta do is keep pressing the key, like your finger had the jitters.  Once it pops up with the indicator to press the key, bounce you finger on the key repeatedly until the screen moves on the the next phase entering the bios.  With my board, I put one finger on the Delete with my right hand and another finger on my left hand on the F2 key.  Once the enter BIOS option pops up, I hit both keys repeatedly until the machine goes into the BIOS.  Just don't press the key, you got to bounce you finger on it.  ...............
